What are the engine options?
Perhaps the best thing about the all-new Ford F-150 is the addition of the all-new PowerBoost V6 hybrid option, which is designed to provide the highest horsepower and torque numbers in the history of the pickup. Essentially, the new hybrid engine is a version of the turbocharged 3.5-liter V6, which pairs with a lithium-ion battery pack and a 47-horsepower electric motor. The F-150 is the first truck in the history of the class with a full hybrid system and will be an available option on all trims. The engine joins the lineup consisting of a 3.3-liter V6, which pairs exclusively with a ten-speed automatic transmission. In addition, you also have the option of a 2.7-liter V6, a 5.0-liter V8, a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6, and a non-hybrid version of the turbocharged 3.5-liter V6.
How does the interior look?
The interior of the all-new Ford F-150 has been completely redesigned as the center now has large knobs, buttons for the most used controls, and a ton of places to store your stuff. Also available is a stowable shifter that folds onto the center console and frees up space when the vehicle is not in motion. There are also more functional updates, including an Interior Work Surface, a flat tray on top of the center console where you can place your laptop or tablet on your laptop. On the upper-level trims, you have the option of Ford’s Max Recline Seats that go back nearly 180 degrees, allowing passengers to take naps on long trips.
What are the tech features of the new F-150?
Even the base trims of the new Ford F-150 come with the 8-inch touchscreen, while higher-level trims get a 12-inch version. Both touchscreens are available with the latest Ford Sync system, which has wireless connectivity for the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which is a first for the class. A split-screen functionality also allows drivers to display two systems at once. For example, you can view maps and music selections at the same time. Additionally, the new F-150 offers a ton of advanced driver safety aids such as adaptive cruise control and blind-spot monitoring, which return to the lineup. New this year is Active Drive Assist, which promises hands-free driving on several highways throughout the country. Also new is the addition of a Pro Power Onboard, which acts like an onboard power station that allows drivers to charge tools when you’re parked or driving.
How good is the F-150’s towing?
Towing numbers for the new Ford F-150 are expected to be high. The 3.5-liter PowerBoost will be especially useful for hauling as it will pull at least 12,000 pounds. You can also expect a high payload capacity as the 2021 Ford F-150 should have a 1,000-pound payload advantage over its nearest competitor. Additionally, the new Ford F-150 has some additional functionality in its bed due to the new tailgate-mounted cleats and the optional Tailgate Work Surface, which add rulers, a cupholder, a phone holder. It has a surface that has even more utility with the tailgate folded.
