What’s the engine for the Ford F-150 Lightning Like?
The Ford-150 Lightning has the look and feels of a gasoline-powered F-150, but instead of a standard gas-powered engine, it has two electric motors and all-wheel-drive. You also get a fully independent rear suspension that further improves the massive trucks handling and ride comfort. With the standard battery pack and the two motor setup, the Ford F-150 Lightning pumps out 426 horsepower and a spectacular 775 lb-ft of torque. This battery pack has up to 230 miles of range when on a full charge. If that’s not enough for you, you can opt for Lightning’s extended range battery, which provides you with 300 miles of range and up to 563 horsepower. The added horsepower allows the Lightning to go from 0 to 60 in around 4 seconds. If you’re looking to haul around a ton of material, the F-150 Lightning is the truck for you as it has a payload capacity of 2,000 pounds and can tow up to 10,000 pounds with the Max Trailer Tow Package. There is also additional cabin storage to haul around smaller items.
What Tech is Available for the F-150 Lightning?
There are quite a few technology features available for the F-150 Lightning that are clever and innovative. This massive pickup comes with a hands-free driving system and BlueCruise, which will work with more than 100,000 miles of remapped divided highways that take the stress out of driving for the long haul as the system takes control of the truck’s steering, acceleration, and braking. Meanwhile, the Bluetooth system uses cameras that monitor the driver to make sure that they are paying attention to the road while behind the wheel. Additional features include the over-the-air updates that the Lightning receives via its infotainment system. Another new feature is that your smartphone can access your truck key; to never need a separate key fob. All trims of the F-150 Lighting also come with the latest version of the Ford Sync system.
Interior of the Ford F-150 Lightning
The inside of the Ford F-150 Lightning is incredibly spacious that combines intelligent physical controls with an easy-to-use touchscreen. You will also find a fold-out center console table, front seats that are heated, ventilated, and recline flat so you can stretch out, and a lockable storage bin that is located conveniently under the rear seat. Higher-level trims come with a 15.5-inch touchscreen that is vertically aligned and easy to use. The base-level Pto trim comes with vinyl seating and manually adjustable front seats, while higher trims have the option of leather seats. Best of all, there is an interior work surface covered by an armrest section making it the perfect place for a laptop.
