The 2022 Ford Maverick offers buyers two engine options: a 2.5-liter Atkinson inline-4 + 94-kW battery pack hybrid engine and a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4. The standard engine will be the hybrid engine mated to an electronic continuously variable transmission with front-wheel drive on every trim level. Ford’s optional 2.0-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine also comes standard with front-wheel drive, but you can opt for an all-wheel-drive if you prefer. The EcoBoost engine will be paired with an 8-speed automatic. The Maverick truck has Built Ford Tough in its veins and will deliver 4,000 pounds of towing and 1,500 pounds of standard payload. The 2022 Ford Maverick provides a long list of driver-assistance safety features. Ford’s Automated Emergency Braking system is standard on all trim levels of the Maverick, as well as  Forward Collision Warning. Buyers will opt for more safety features such as blind-spot warning, lane-keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control, and rear cross-traffic warning. The Forward Collision Warning system uses sensors in the front of your car to detect slower vehicles traveling in the same direction and warn you if you’re rapidly approaching. If this happens, a row of red lights on your windshield will flash, and you’ll hear an alarm. If you don’t react and continue to get closer to the other vehicle, your car will pre-charge and increase brake-assist sensitivity to provide full responsiveness when you brake, which may help you avoid an accident. Once your brakes have been pre-charged, they’ll automatically apply a harder force to stop you quickly, even if you press them lightly.
